Singapore, 10 November 2016 – Pan Pacific Hotels Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Romain Chan as Area General Manager, China and General Manager, Pan Pacific Suzhou.
Romain brings to our Group over 30 years of industry experience spanning China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Philippines and the United States. He started his career at the Front Office of Hilton Hong Kong and gained extensive operational experience at business and luxury hotels across Hong Kong, Macau and China prior to being appointed Assistant Director of Front Office Operations at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City.
In 1994, Romain assumed his first General Manager position at the Century Saigon Hotel in Vietnam. In no time, Romain was tasked to concurrently oversee three Century hotels in the Philippines. Since then, he has managed properties under the Shangri-La and Harbour Plaza brands in China.
Romain is no stranger to Pan Pacific Hotels Group, having helmed Pan Pacific Ningbo from 2014 to 2016, where he delivered outstanding results in a challenging market and achieved record numbers in guest satisfaction and revenue growth. In his new role, Romain will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the brand’s properties in China, namely Pan Pacific Tianjin, Pan Pacific Xiamen, Pan Pacific Ningbo and Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Ningbo, as well as Pan Pacific Beijing when it opens early next year. This will be in addition to his role as General Manager of Pan Pacific Suzhou.
“We warmly welcome Romain back to our operational leadership team. He is one of the most passionate hoteliers I know; in addition, he is highly experienced and brings a unique set of skills from his diverse hospitality management experience which spans hotels, serviced suites, restaurants and shopping malls. Romain combines an international outlook with deep and practical experience in China, where he has demonstrated excellent credentials. Given the importance of China as one of our strategic growth markets, we are confident that Romain will harness his extensive market knowledge to strengthen the overall performance of our properties and to achieve greater affinity with the Pan Pacific brand,” says Erik Anderouard, Senior Vice President, Operations, Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
